Our Lost Future

Our Lost Future is a series of paintings exploring and celebrating the optimism, ambition and promise embodied in post-war visions of tomorrow. Inspired by archival photographs, artists' impressions and found imagery, the series reimagines the architecture of post-war Britain as places and buildings shaped by hope, imagination and the belief that the future could be better than the present.

The paintings occupy a space between historical record and imagination. Some remain closely rooted in archival material, while others move more freely between documented places, reconstruction and invention. People, traffic and signage may disappear, allowing the architecture and spaces themselves to become the focus. The resulting works present self-contained worlds that invite the viewer to step into a future as it was once imagined.

Neither historical records nor architectural reconstructions, these paintings explore the aspirations embedded within the built environment: the belief that modern design, planning and imagination could create a better way of living.

Our Lost Future is not about decline. It is about optimism, possibility and the excitement of standing at the edge of a new world.
